News: You are invited to a Focus Group for LGBTQ+ youth

Do you identify as an LGBTQ+ youth between that age of 16-25 and want to talk about health care services and suicide?

The Suicide Prevention Network of Ottawa and The Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity are looking for LGBTQ+ youth between the age of 16-25 to participate in a focus group that will discuss suicide, mental health and experiences with health care services. We need your input on how we can make health services more supportive when you are struggling.

WHEN: MAY 26th at 4pm

WHERE: The Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity Office C304-440 Albert St. Ottawa (fully accessible)

WHY: Because as LGBTQ+ youth we have particular barriers and experiences and more challenges in our lives that can lead us to  struggle with suicidality than cisgendered heterosexual youth. OUR VOICES ARE IMPORTANT!!

ACCESSIBILITY: Youth from outside of Ottawa can FACETIME in on this focus group. Please contact Jessica Azevedo if you want to participate digitally:

RSVP: Please contact Andrea Poncia to RSVP if you want to join this focus group IN PERSON (as opposed to digitally):

This focus group is part of pilot project that will build towards delivering LGBTQ+ clinical capacity- building training for mental health organizations in Ottawa. From this focus group, youth can apply to be part of the presentations given to services providers in the final stages of the project. More information on this process will be announced at the focus group.
